ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

WEALF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, mission-driven not-for-profit loan program advancing women’s economic empowerment. We do this by assisting women business owners with an interest-free loan and one-to-one mentoring from successful businesswomen

WEALF is dedicated to assisting women become financially self-sufficient through their business, regardless of their age, zip code, or ethnicity. We do that by providing access to no-interest and low-interest loans and guidance through our team of experienced women mentors. Loans are granted without collateral or guarantors.

Being an entrepreneur can be lonely. Participants have access to a team of women mentors who are dedicated to creating a supportive environment in which entrepreneurs can flourish. Mentors work on a one-to-one basis, focused on meeting the individual where she is in her development. WEALF entrepreneurs are invited to special programs designed to address business and personal issues as well as opportunities to network with one another. Participants in the program can continue to be included in the mentoring program after the repayment of their loan.

ItemWEALF knows it takes more than money to succeed; so each of our loan recipients is paired with a mentor, who supports the entrepreneur for the life of the loan. Mentoring relationships often last for years, and we encourage our women to stay in contact us. WEALF provides loans without a guarantor or collateral, and the first loan is interest free. WEALF supports all industries. Women with eligible businesses are encouraged to apply regardless of industry. In our current portfolio, we have businesses in the food, services, pet care, apparel, home goods, and jewelry. To meet all our founders and their businesses visit our entrepreneur page.

Mentoring is a two-way relationship. Advisors and mentors decide on the goals and process of their work together. Mentor will develop a mutual understanding of expectations and how best to communicate, how often, and when and where to meet. WEALF mentors are donating their time and expertise. As a participant, you agree to fulfill your role by respecting your mentor’s time, as they will respect yours by being responsive to you and your needs. The mentoring relationship is intended to extend for the life of the loan and beyond.

MENTORING

Are you a woman with an active business that has been generating revenue for six months or more in the New York Metro area? If the answer is yes, you are eligible to apply for a loan. No collateral or guarantor is required to apply.

First time loans are up to $10K and interest-free. Subsequent loans are available up to $10K at an interest rate of 3%. Loans are repaid monthly over 3 years for first loans and 3 years for subsequent loans.

WEALF currently accepts applicants 3-4 cohorts per year based on capacity. Applicants may fill out a form on the WEALF website to be notified of pertinent dates to apply. When a cohort opens the link to our application on Google Forms is available on the WEALF website. As part of the application, all candidates are required to upload their resume, along with P&L statements, and balance sheets for the previous two years or if they have been in business less than a year, for the most recent quarter. All information submitted is reviewed by the WEALF Application Committee, and those selected to move forward are interviewed.by the committee. The process from an application submission to a decision usually takes from 1 to 3 months.

You can become a member of the WEALF family by applying for a loan, becoming a mentor, donating, or supporting entrepreneurs through buying their products and services.

To donate visit our donation page. WEALF is a 501c3 not for profit organization and donations are tax deductible; you will receive a letter acknowledging your donation to keep for your records.
